I just had a call from Admiral Trudl; he was glad to speak to me, for once. He didn't even care that the Jutland had to run like a deer when that STALK nearly shepherded us to hell last month, which is what I was dreading to hear. Apparently we're to head to Erdani, and to Fate. Courier and VIP mission; straight back to Earth. I asked who, what, and why -- he said it was all on a "need to know basis". Even the spook hasn't gone gloated at me that he knows, we're all oblivious. I think this may be coming from real bigwigs. I know it's simple, but I'm still really fucking creeped out; We're to dock at this facility I've never heard of to pick up a VIP and a package we don't know anything about.

We're currently at Luna, men are on shore leave again. Tarh doesn't even like the damn Moon; it's kinda funny how solid ground makes him squirm. We'll leave tomorrow, and it'll be around two weeks before we get to Fate. Then we've got to get back to Earth. I suppose it's better than just sitting around, scanning an asteroid in a frontier system.

Talked to Jack for a bit; he's doing well. He's saying that people are baying for birdy blood more and more on Earth, due to some pathetic little skirmish on some rock. Everyone but the people who have to fight the war are baying for it, it seems.

Picked up my meds on Luna, these should be enough for a few months. I think they're really losing their effectiveness, walking is just getting worse and worse.

I'm currently lying on some cardboard boxes and a sack in the bridge. My quarters are completely decompressed; although they patched up the holes, the entire place is still riddled with hazards. Tarh offered me his room, but I'm not a mooch. I doubt I'd be able to sleep, anyway.

Today began as expected; our VIP, Dr. Rook, what seemed to be a robot companion, and a package came aboard. He seemed a bit off, but everything about the mission was. We hit orbit and were speeding away, but then we hit what seemed to be half the Cretin fleet; and they had completely and utterly formed a blockade around Erdani and Fate. We tried to manoeuvre, but they were everywhere; and they were opening fire -- we scrambled, and the entire crew responded exactly how they should. I can't fault them, McCullough, Sakamoto, Tarh, Winters, and everyone else saved out asses. We were getting pounded, and they kept their cool.

We took too much damage, however. I readied the detonation of the Neutron Core, and got the crew to file into the pods. I was ready to go down with the ship, of course. Our shields had been breached, and the hull was full of holes. Bodies everywhere, when Rook came up with his friend. I don't think I'll ever forget when he told us that he was carrying a wormhole device; it explained everything about our mission, anyway. It was either sure death or that, with the neutron core going down; so I gambled with Rook. It paid off.

I can't describe the feeling of the wormhole. It was horrible, and painful. But I was still standing, so I managed to summon up the energy to knock off the neutron core lowering procedure. We were alive.

The breaches had to be quickly sealed up. I don't know how we did it, but it happened. God bless 'em all, we managed to flush the system, fix the lines, and get the life support system and one engine working. We even managed to recover the pilot off a single fighter that got caught in the wormhole with us. We recovered the pilot, and got him thrown in the brig. He could speak our tongue, even.

I found out how far we were from Earth; forty-eight thousand light years from Earth. We're in the Scutum-Centaurus arm, Gamma Quadrant. I had to tell that to the crew, they didn't take it well. Tried to wrangle booze and smokes out of me after I tried to up their spirits, even. I know what they must feel like; they could be spending the rest of lives on this ship. I don't like having to tell them that, and it was fucking awful to hear out my own lips.

I finished the day speaking to our prisoner. It seems that the entire attack was done without the consent of the Cretin holy council, an Admiral had gone and orchestrated the attack himself; they were looking for the wormhole device. I feel sick, knowing they glassed Fate for that.

The Admiral is Krang. The Krang.

We've been surviving over the past week. It's been manageable. We managed to repair things up, make sure life support's working; the propulsion on one engine is bust, but we were near a system that we're on the verge of entering now. We named it Berui, after the Comm Specialist who died on Sunday; and McCullough has told me that we're approaching the second planet. It's got an atmosphere that could be used to salvage extra oxygen for our tanks, and it's covered entirely in ice; meaning we're likely going to melt it and pack it away.

I'm tired, and I just came on duty. Lowe's saying the pilot we've got captive has a gift for us. Should be interesting to see.

I'm in my bed right now, Atta made sure I was safe and I was able to sleep before going. That man helped save my life tonight, so I didn't want to leave him to take the shift; but he said it true, I'm in no shape to do any sort of service for the evening.

Is it my fault?

The bird had moulted some of it's hair (feathers?) and stuffed it into little linen sacks. It had made pillows for us. Lowe collected them on our behalf, I nearly cracked a smile as he did so. Then some godamn idiot Sergeant barged into the chamber, and unloaded a round into the pilot. On Kovalev's orders. I tried to take their gun, but I was on the end of it when Kovalev announced I was under arrest.

I want to fucking murder him; scratch that, I want to torture him ad infinitum. He ignored my Exec Prerogative, the circumstances the ship was in, and the entire base nature of the Cretin psyche. In my interrogation of the thing, I did what I was taught to do; give it chickenfeed (no pun intended) in exchange for the crown jewels. The idiot clearly never had met a damn Cretin; the fact I talked to it with honesty and openness meant I was a sympathiser, and the fact I had no escort that would make it think of me as dishonourable meant I was fraternising with it. The stupid fuck had the handbook so far up his ass, he didn't even remember that the shit wasn't even written for Cretins. Without flags and without authority, I got thrown in the brig.

I'd been informed that there was a Cretin droid that was acting as an infiltration unit on the ship; I'd spent my and Lowe's time slowly trying to coerce the information as to it's identity out of it. What I wasn't told was this; it must have picked up the pilot's existence, and linked it's sleeper mode with it's biosignals. It's abrasive armour was tough, so they just threw it in cryo to space it later; and Kovalev let the damn unit loose. While I was in the brig, having the marines call me a bird-fucking bitch and Cortez patronise me for trying to explain what was going on to them, I nearly fell over with the cargo bay blowing beneath me; that droid must have made provisions, or been quick on it's feet. Lowe and Chief Suffoc busted me out my cell, and I quickly ran to the bridge and got Filligan to seal the bulkheads.

Kovalev then tried to get rid of EMMI; not through flushing her system, but trying to get a secondary AI online. I never was supposed to tell this, but this ship was designed to have one AI to override the Cretin's; no space could be made for a backup. Kovalev was tearing EMMI apart because he thought she was rampant for supporting me; and he dragged and tied up AI techies and Lowe to fix his shit when he realised he'd done irreversible damage. Meanwhile, I scrambled as many people as I could to fix the hull up; and although Cortez and her that stupid fucking Sergeant (Jennings?) were apprehending every security person who carried a weapon, the others were preparing to try to take out the marines. I think I got them to disarm.

I managed to get the bird out of stasis, and it was compliant in assuring the droid was shut down. After the damage was done, the crisis with EMMI was continued; Kovalev finally getting her back up. Although I hate the thing, I think without it's support I'd have been doomed. It got most of the crew who were doubtful to back me, and I tried to set off to meet Kovalev and Cortez face to face.

As soon as EMMI said that they were taking guns out, I crapped my pants. Atta was with me at this point, so his backing helped me. Suffoc accompanied me. We were in the mess when Cortez and Kovalev turned up; the latter with all of his operatives who were hidden on the ship. Kovalev kept quoting and quoting the book; though I wasn't any more eloquent, I was half-shouting at his half-assed threats and his refusal to see reality and the truth of what was going on. Then he raised his gun when he tried to arrest me again.

I stepped forward and tried to appeal to whatever soul that man has. He shot me. Fortunately I'd put my helmet on, so my shields were up and my armour was solid, and I was turning to walk away; he hit me in the shoulder. It hurt, in case I need to emphasise that.

All hell broke loose. I was fighting shock, but I saw people shooting, beating each other up, and Suffoc being effectively executed by that treacherous bastard.

I remember vaguely being slung away, and I woke up with an ONI Operative with me; although he was kinda an obvious suspect, it still shocked me when I saw who it was. He patched me up good, and didn't mean me no harm; though he felt everything was my fault, still. At this point, the ship had touched down on Berui-2. The wounded and the dead had been seen to, and Kovalev, that Sergeant lackey, all but a couple of the ONI operatives, and Petty Officer Rivers had jettisoned -- probably a dozen or so clicks from our landing site.

I got to bed. I can't believe this shit has happened.

Is this my fault? I don't think I did anything. Have I lost touch? Maybe I'm just a horrible Captain. I'd have to be, for this to happen.

This seriously can't be happening.

We landed and scooped up ice. I'm not even going to talk about all that happened just to retrieve the water. Too much.

We found the pod and drove there. Rescued everyone, I thought I'd done it it without bloodshed. Then Cortez and her marines pulled me out the vehicle and arrested me. Kovalev tried to execute me, but the treacherous spic whore managed to get some integrity.

I tried to put on a brave face, but my knuckles are red and bleeding from punching the wall. My throat's sore from sobbing like a baby. It's pathetic.

I broke no regulations. Kovalev knows that, and it's true. I looked at the handbook. I'm damn innocent. I can hear what's going on, the crew and the marines trying to get their rage out. I should have stopped the crew running their mouths; Cortez fucking stripped security of their ability to defend for a reason. She's disgusting. A disgrace. I traitor. I'm trying to hold this ship together, and she arrested me? This isn't even about me, the stupid syphilis-filled witch is going to send the entire ship into civil war. With her putting me at gunpoint every time I asked the marines to disarm and work with the crew, she cosied herself into a position of power.

A trial on a ship? Has she fucking got tapeworms in her brain? The crew'll be slaughtering each other! This has to stop, if Kovalev and Cortez don't step down, this ship's going to have no crew to man her.

They got Atta, too.

Kovalev is going to kill us. He has to stop. There's going to be no regs to enforce if that asshole continues being crazy.

And the fact of the matter is this; Rook and his device are still loaded. It's not about the Jutland; WE HAVE TO GET THE DEVICE HOME. This could have us win the war, maybe force peace. I am not letting Kovalev destroy our only hope.

I am not.

I lowered Kovalev and most of ONI into cryo today. Along with Cortez. I'm glad the crew sided with me when I decided to freeze them; I would not let us become murderers. I let them write down any messages to their families for broadcast towards Earth, just in case.

Kovalev let me shake his hand. I think he was going to cry.

Valentines day. Caught several of the crew trying to get it off. We couldn't allow that. Got Vance to be less steep, though. Poor bastards must hate me.

I can't blame them. It's too lonely here.

There's a foisty smell about. EMMI says she can't detect anything. Getting migraines, and we're running low on painkillers. My leg is feeling horrible, but at least my shoulder is healed up now. I'm managing to hide my limp, at least.

I'm finding it hard to get out of bed. It's all daunting as hell. I keep thinking about Jack. I hope he's alright. And home. We have to be winning. We have to be.

We're approaching a system, according to McCullough and the astrographer. I gave them the thumbs up, along with Atta. It looks promising, and it's only a small diversion from the direct route.

We're there. It looks a lot like it may be inhabitable; there's blue and green everywhere. May just be chemicals or some bullshit. We're flying in close today, to do a comprehensive scan before we even think of anything. Heading onto the bridge now.

I can't keep my eyes open, and the entire ship stinks. I feel like vomiting and dying.
